My oh my. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan’s performances this week were the most embarrassing thing we think we’ve seen this Congress. Better for them to dye their hair, choose a nickname to go by, and transfer schools because there’s no coming back from that.

Comer said his hearing, that yet again provided no proof of wrongdoing by President Biden, represented a “pivotal moment” and boy was he right. House Speaker McCarthy groupie and former Freedom Caucus queen Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took it upon herself to show Americans who is really in charge of the House Republican Caucus. The “pivotal moment” came when Greene decided to broadcast nonconsensual nude photos of a private citizen to the world. Then she sent an email, from her taxpayer funded office’s list, to which minors might be subscribed, because she was so obsessed with distributing those photos. Ew. Cue Mariah Carey.

Meanwhile, Lev Parnas, a former associate of Rudy Giuliani who helped Giuliani search for Bigfoot in Ukraine, told Comer to shut up because there is no proof for what Comer is claiming. Next, Comer will be telling us he has another “very credible” informant in Canada. Comer isn’t the only Chairman holding politically motivated hearings in service of former President Trump this week either. Yesterday, Jordan chose to give Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. a platform, even though just days ago Kennedy was caught spewing antisemitic conspiracy theories…again.

Next week, Comer is holding a hearing about UFOs, which is probably the most coherent thing he’s done this year. Although knowing Comer he’ll probably tell us the aliens are here to take our gas stoves.

New Republic: “Marjorie Taylor Greene May Have Sent Hunter Biden Nudes to a Bunch of Minors”

  • New Republic Reported That Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene May Have Violated D.C. Revenge Porn Law By Showing Nude Photos Of A Private Citizen During A Congressional Hearing. “In her desperation to prove wrongdoing by Hunter Biden, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene may have sent his nude photos to minors. The House Oversight Committee heard testimony on Wednesday from two IRS agents who say the Department of Justice dragged its feet on investigating the younger Biden for tax fraud. The hearing produced zero actual evidence, so instead, Greene tried to claim that Biden engaged in sex trafficking and listed payments to sex workers as a tax write-off.  To support her argument, she held up poster-size prints of Biden’s nude photos, which were taken off his laptop. Not only were her actions wildly inappropriate—Oversight Chair James Comer did not reprimand her, though—but she may also have violated D.C. revenge porn law.” [New Republic, 7/20/23]
  • Marjorie Taylor Greene Emailed Her Constituents A Video That Showed Nude Photos Of A Private Citizen. “And now, Greene may have emailed the nudes to minors. The Georgia representative emailed her constituents Wednesday evening claiming she had confirmed Biden was guilty of sex trafficking and tax fraud (she had not). The email included a video that showed his nudes.” [New Republic, 7/20/23]
  • If Minors Are Subscribed To Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Email List They Would Have Received The Video Showing Nude Photos, Which New Republic Reported Could Have Violated Georgia’s Revenge Porn Law And Federal Law Banning The Distribution Of Obscene Material To Minors. “There is no screening for age when signing up for Greene’s email newsletter, so any minors who subscribe—such as for a social studies project or simply to stay up to date—have now received nudes from their congresswoman. If that is the case, then Greene would not only have violated her state’s revenge porn law, but she could also have broken federal laws banning the distribution of obscene material to minors.” [New Republic, 7/20/23]

Former Rudy Giuliani Associate Lev Parnas Told James Comer To Give It A Rest Already

Axios: “Former Giuliani associate urges Comer to ‘abandon’ Biden investigation”

  • Former Rudy Giuliani Associate Lev Parnas Told Rep. James Come There Was “Simply No Merit” For His Investigation. “In another blow to House Oversight Chair James Comer’s (R-Ky.) probe into the Bidens and Ukraine, former Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas wrote a scorching letter claiming there is ‘simply no merit’ for the investigation.” [Axios, 7/18/23]
  • Lev Parnas To Rep. James Comer: “With All Due Respect, Chairman Comer, The Narrative You Are Seeking For This Investigation Has Been Proven False Many Times Over, By A Wide Array Of Respected Sources.” “Why it matters: Parnas, a Ukrainian-American businessman, was a central figure in former President Trump’s first impeachment investigation over efforts to pressure Ukraine into investigating the Bidens. ‘With all due respect, Chairman Comer, the narrative you are seeking for this investigation has been proven false many times over, by a wide array of respected sources,’ Parnas wrote. ‘There is simply no merit to investigating this matter any further.’ ‘Please abandon this effort to investigate the Bidens, which is nothing more than a wild goose chase,’ he added.” [Axios, 7/18/23]
  • Lev Parnas To Rep. James Comer: “[T]here Has Never Been Any Evidence That Hunter Or Joe Biden Committed Any Crimes Related To Ukrainian Politics.” “What he’s saying:’[T]here has never been any evidence that Hunter or Joe Biden committed any crimes related to Ukrainian politics,’ Parnas wrote in the letter. Parnas laid out a detailed timeline of Giuliani’s attempts to malign the Biden family with allegations of corruption related to Ukraine as well as his close involvement in those efforts. He claimed to have been in the room with key players, communicating frequently with Giuliani and ‘often interpreting between the Ukrainian and English languages.’ ‘The truth is that everyone, from Giuliani and the BLT Team to Devin Nunes and his colleagues, to the people at FOX News, knew that these allegations against the Bidens were false,’ Parnas wrote. ‘There has never been any factual evidence, only conspiracy theories spread by people who knew exactly what they were doing.’” [Axios, 7/18/23]

Jim Jordan Amplified Prolific Conspiracy Theorist In Congress

The Hill: “Jordan says RFK Jr. post on Hank Aaron was ‘just pointing out facts’”

Daily Beast: “Jim Jordan Pushes Bogus Hank Aaron Vaccine Conspiracy During RFK Jr. Hearing”

  • Jim Jordan Falsely Claimed That Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Was “Just Pointing Out Facts” When He Suggested That Baseball Legend Hank Aaron Died As A Result Of Getting The Covid-19 Vaccine. “House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) amplified a conspiracy theory peddled by anti-vaccine conspiracist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Thursday, claiming the longshot Democratic presidential candidate was ‘just pointing out facts’ when he tied baseball legend Hank Aaron’s death to the COVID-19 vaccine. […] Despite Jordan’s claims that Kennedy was merely ‘pointing out facts,’ his suggestion that Aaron died from the vaccine has been disproven over and over again. In fact, the medical examiner’s office that examined Aaron’s body said the 86-year-old died of natural causes. Jordan went on to imply that President Joe Biden was already worried that Kennedy would be a potential primary threat just days after officially taking office, prompting his administration to contact Twitter about Kennedy’s tweet—which is still up, by the way.” [Daily Beast, 7/20/23]
