Reiterates call to block members who ignore subpoenas from serving as committee chairs

WASHINGTON, DCStatement from Facts First President David Brock on New York Times bombshell investigation into Congressman Santos’s resume being full of fiction and fraud:

“Kevin McCarthy needs to immediately announce that Congressman Santos cannot vote in the election for Speaker or hold committee seats until the House Ethics Committee conducts a full investigation into his rampant lies about everything from his career, to charitable work, to even where he lives.

“This is potentially a serious legal issue involving lying on his Congressional financial disclosure and McCarthy cannot be allowed to use this as leverage in a corrupt bargain to ignore Congressman Santo’s actions in exchange for his vote for Speaker.

“Additionally, as we await the release of the January 6th committee report and how they will handle Members who defied their subpoenas we reiterate our call in our letter to the House GOP Caucus from Facts First Co-Chairs David Jolly and Maria Cardona that these members who ignored subpoenas should be barred from serving as committee chairs .”
