“The January 6th report is a sobering and somber reminder that when unfit and disturbed individuals acquire power, they pose a real threat to our democracy and are a danger to the American people.
“Kevin McCarthy’s original corrupt bargain was his decision to enable Trump as the former president tried to topple our democracy. McCarty’s corrupt bargain Part II is his attempt to solidify support among MAGA members of Congress for his embattled Speaker’s bid. . As the January 6th report lays out in exhausting and terrifying detail, we know what happens when politicians promote lies and conspiracies, knowingly manipulating voters and viewers with misinformation and malice, and the deadly consequences of irresponsible leadership at times of critical national import.
