WASHINGTON, DC – Statement from Facts First President David Brock on the long-time members of the vast right-wing conspiracy who are working with the IRS whistleblower who is meeting with House Ways & Means today:
“Every Republican allegation or supposed whistleblower about impropriety in the Hunter investigation suffers from the fatal flaw that it began during the Trump administration and has continued under the supervision of an FBI Director and US Attorney Trump appointed and Biden kept in charge.
“But as a former right-wing hit man there are some serious red flags that the public and press need to be aware of about the shady, lying, and racist conservative operatives working with this whistleblower.
“One of the groups working with him – Empower Oversight – has ties to every insane conspiracy theory going back to Dan Burton shooting watermelons to accuse the Clintons of murdering Vince Foster, to the bogus Fast and Furious investigation, to attacking the FBI to protect Trump. They are so extreme that one of their founders was a xenophobic and bigoted blogger while working for Grassley.
“And his other attorney worked in the Trump White House and represented another Trump staffer before the January 6th Committee who pushed Trump’s Big Lie about the election being stolen and defended Trump’s actions on January 6th.
“Washington is full of credible bipartisan and nonpartisan attorneys and organizations who assist whistleblowers. The fact that long-standing members of the vast right-wing conspiracy are running the show both raises issues of credibility and the question of how did these parties come together?
“Until we learn more everything here needs to be taken with a Trump Tower’s worth of salt.”
