MTG may be the one leading the insurrectionist field trip today, but, it wouldn’t be happening without the permission and blessing of Kevin McCarthy who continues to make payments on his corrupt bargain with MAGA extremists to put them in charge in exchange for their votes for McCarthy to be Speaker.

It was McCarthy who put #MarjInCharge

JAMES COMER AND MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE CELEBRATE THOSE WHO ATTACKED LAW ENFORCEMENT AS THEY VISIT THE INSURRECTION INMATES

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Rep. James Comer, joined Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in a letter to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, announcing their intentions to arrange a congressional delegation to visit January 6th inmates held in the Washington D.C. jail. Greene has repeatedly referred to the inmates as “political prisoners” and dubbed the section of the jail they are kept in the “patriot wing.”

Greene continues to push these unfounded claims despite all 20 of the January 6th inmates being charged with serious criminal offenses, including seventeen of them being charged with assaulting members of law enforcement. Nearly half of all those imprisoned have already been convicted or pled guilty to the charges.

The remaining three inmates have also been charged with serious crimes; one is a former Proud Boys member that a judge considered a flight risk due to the overwhelming amount of evidence supporting the charges against him. Another is a former Oath Keeper that was convicted of conspiracy to obstruct official proceedings and interfering with law enforcement officers during a civil disorder, among other charges. One inmate, Eric Christie, was in a hours-long standoff with law enforcement when they came to execute the arrest. Christie allegedly told officers they “BETTER COME IN HERE SHOOTING” as officers tried to arrest him.

Below is a breakdown of the charges against all the inmates currently in the D.C. jail.

Rhodes and Caldwell were on Capitol grounds that day but did not go inside the building. As NBC News first reported in December, Christie got into an hours-long standoff with law enforcement when they came to execute his arrest. Images of Christie outside the Capitol on Jan. 6 show a hammer hanging from his belt, and the Justice Department said that he held onto a baseball that another rioter stole from Nancy Pelosi’s office. “BETTER COME IN HERE SHOOTING” Christie allegedly said to law enforcement when they came to try and arrest him. Once again, in that case, a judge determined that holding him until trial was necessary to ensure public safety.” [Just Security, 3/20/23]
